Federal workforce incentives should apply to entire continuum: Argentum
A $20 million grant program offering financial incentives to nursing students to work in nursing homes should be expanded to include the entire long-term care continuum, including assisted living, according to Argentum.
In a Jan. 9 letter to the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, Argentum President and CEO James Balda wrote that although he appreciates the agency's investment in the senior care workforce, the recently announced incentive program aimed at attracting registered nurses to nursing homes could affect the ability of other settings — including assisted living — to attract direct care workers.
