As lawmakers consider Pennsylvania's budget for FY 2025, the Pennsylvania Assisted Living Association (PALA) is requesting support in providing needed increased funding to the SSI line item to assist Personal Care Homes (PCH)

care for our most vulnerable seniors.

Specifically, we are requesting the following:

  • $ 30 million increase to the state SSI PCBH (Personal Care
    Boarding Home) supplement line item.
  • An annual cost of living adjustment (COLA) to the state portion of the SSI in line with the federal COLA adjustment.

If this additional funding is made available for PCH facilities that accept

SSI residents across the state, the following benefits would be realized:

  • Improved care for seniors directly resulting in safer environments and improved healthcare and well-being.
  • Help small personal care homes care for our most vulnerable seniors.
  • Control the costs to seniors and their families for accessible and affordable long-term
